So they just opened a Ferrari/Maserati dealership right down the road from where I work. A whole car lot full of literally dozens of ultra-high end luxury sportscars. Imagine a whole ROW of F430s sitting there gleaming in the sun, literally millions of dollars worth of cars ( Read more... )

At the height of the Internet boom, my then-business partner walked into a car dealership planning to buy an insanely expensive sports car, and the only reason he didn't go through with it was because they didn't have the color he wanted in stock.

And there's a big difference between 'the height of the internet boom' and the current economic climate. Oh, and impulse buying a high-end sportscar is disgusting.

One's thinking is different - and less sane - when making millions per year in stock options.

My then-business partner managed fairly soon after the Internet crash to drive himself into bankruptcy. I engineered the deal that let him keep his house, buying out a security interest at 20 cents on the dollar.

Yeah, right next door, and business does not appear to be booming by the looks of the (very quiet) lot and showroom.... But they've been there for many many years. The Ferrari dealership just opened last week.
