Bram Stoker's Dracula

When you wrote "I begin to feel as if I know the characters and I begin to relate to them." You made me go straight to my World Lit Class. When had/having a huge debt (well talk) about how one reads. My teacher says people always try to relate themselves to characters in books and that isn't a good thing. (she is a strange teacher). She made us read Italo Calvino's If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, just to let you know its 10 stories in one, with no endings except one. Just to show how you can't connect with characters. Yeah always, sorry about the long comment. Made me think about that. Love ya!

Hey! I just started reading this book recently too. I never got around to it before and, considering my love of vampires, that's almost inexcusable. I'm only about six chapters in, but I'm already chafing to read Carmilla, an older book which Stoker found quite inspirational when he was writing Dracula.

Anyway, I also wanted to comment that I agree with you about the early annoyance of everything being in journal entries, letters, etc. I love my third person omniscient POV, but I'm starting to get used to this format.
