So yesterday at the gym I managed to run an 8 minute and 47 second mile, a full 13 seconds under what I need to be able to run by August. I also went for about 3.5 miles which is good because I need to be running 7 miles by August. However, despite all this good news, there is some bad, or at least potentially bad, news. Perhaps you could get a meeting with a high-ranking officer in the precinct you want to work in, and just talk to him/her about this? Maybe you can a) show them you are dedicated despite a rocky start, and b) get some advice in how to approach training and applying for the job, considering you will have a couple strikes against you....

Yeah, I was thinking of contacting the hiring supervisor and seeing if I could have a meeting with him but I'm not sure how that would work out or if they do that? Perhaps I'll email him expressing interest and then see if I can set up a time after my tax return comes back (seeing as I'll be in that area visiting Moe and Anna).

I'm not sure really? It's something that I wanted to do when I was 18 and it just sorta reoccurred.
