Carpentry vs. Solar

So after teaching solar installation to a group of electricians at GCC this past weekend, I only have one thing to say. I miss it. There's something about it that just keeps me going; unlike carpentry which always makes me want to rip off my face. I feel as if I could easily do 5 14hr days in solar whereas I have a hard time doing even 1 8 hr day ( Read more... )

You should take that Soalr job you were offered. It sounds like it would be just the thing for you. To hell with fretting about moving. It might be good for you to have a change of scenery. And MA doesn't suck THAT much... It's not like Vermont is going anywhere. And it's not like UMass is going anywhere either. (In case you decide you still want to do the park ranger thing later on.) Heck, you might get through the certificate program and realize you STILL just want to do Solar and you'll be kicking yourself for not taking the job when it was handed to you on a platter. So why not just DO IT? If you love Solar so much, you should at LEAST give it a shot.

Oh I'm sure. After doing it for almost 5 years I'm sure I'd know if it was ever going to become sucky to me ;)
