I do not like the GRE much about now. Prepping for it is all fair and good, but seriously. I have to pay 140 bucks to take this stupid thing ( Read more... )

In defense of grad schools, they gotta weed people out somehow. I'd much rather be judged by an organization that wants me to do academic work on how well I can do academic work, rather than on interviews... but then, that makes sense given my focus.

I don't know how it is in your field, but when I went to grad school panels at the math conference I went to a few weeks ago, every time someone asked "how much do GRE scores count for getting into grad school?" the answer was, "pretty much anything trumps a bad GRE score." If the other sections of your application are strong, the GRE probably won't matter so much. Of course, that makes the big fee they place on it even more annoying, but...
