Another Valentine's Day and I am not wracked by the self-doubt and depression that usually plagues me at this time of year. I think maybe I got my depression out of the way during the holidays, and I've honestly been too busy organizing my pitifully small life to worry about finding someone who I am worthy of

true love is (unfortunately) not something you can search for and find. i know that it is cliche, but the truth is that it will find you once you are ready. i know that you probably feel that you are ready now, and would probably be happy to just find a relationship with meaning and the potential to develp into love. sadly, again, i have found that the best relationships in my life came into being when i was not on the hunt for them. Bridget and i did not get together until i was a full fledged bachelor on the prowl in savannah georgia, completely against a committed relationship of any sort. then in steps Bridget, in a place far different from where i was. she was finally ready for a serious committed relationship (with me). at a time when i least wanted a relationship, the woman i had for long desired to have as a romantic fixture in my life finally decided she wanted to be more than friends

I liked what you said about the time having to be right. I think that's a huge part of it that most people do ignore. And divorce should only be a last resort. Ideally, people should know the good, bad, and ugly of a person before marriage, and have the mindset that while it won't be a fairytale, almost anything can be worked out if both put forth the effort.

One thing I learned is that sometimes it's the least likely person (in your mind) who, when the time is right, is the perfect match. While the character and personaliy of the person is also essential, time is really important. (And yeah...the whole dating for a while and then breaking up thing is no good...definitely not a fan of that, even if there are some good stories out of it.)
