My kitty, Entropy, and her last night on this earth

My heart is breaking. Kitty is sitting here next to me. It's so hard to know when to put a beloved pet to sleep. She hasn't eaten in days and the ER Vet said she's suffering from kidney failure. She's barely hobbling around, squeaking when she purrs. I know it's time to let her go. She's only hanging on by the tips of her claws. Our vet several ( Read more... )

Kitty always reminded me so much of our cat Mao! We had almost the exact same situation happen with him, too. He was really old...close to 19 years old if Dave calculated it correctly. He had tumors in his head that made some of his teeth rot. We had to have the teeth pulled but he still had a bad stink that came from his mouth and sinuses. He couldn't clean himself so he started getting matted, and then he started not being able to eat. It's soooo hard having to pick a day for your kitty to go, because you do always think to yourself that they could have had one more day...one more hour...if you'd just held off a little. But the day we'd chosen to take Mao in he was suddenly so happy and had more energy than we'd seen him have in months, and we just got this strong impression that he knew he was finally going to be released and out of pain and was so relieved that it gave him the strength to rally for a few hours in celebration. We bawled the whole day because it was still a very, very sad day, but Mao let us know that it was ( ... )

Wow they even look like twins. Poor kitties. It's hard to say goodbye.

My love and sympathy to you, sweetheart. Losing a friend, of any species, is tough.

Sounds like some damn awesome memories to shore you up, though. :)

Thanks Carolee, yes it's so hard they can't tell you when they feel sick. She was old, matted, and gnarly these days. We knew this day would come. It's just always a hard, heartbreaking day when it arrives.

Sending some good thoughts to your family for your little Bean.

Oh babe, I am so sorry. What a sucky year! I still miss my Fiendish ever damn day. Your post made me cry. My heart goes out to you. Anything else I could say would come out sounding trite and cliche, so know I love you and I'm sorry and I totally understand.
