Sweeping Out The Cobwebs

It occured to me that it's been a long time since I posted anything here, so I thought I'd take a cue from kuzibah and do an inventory of what I've been busy with recently.

Reading
The Southern Vampire Mysteries a.k.a., The Sookie Stackhouse series. These are the books which the series "True Blood" is based on. I'm not really a fan of the whole vampire ( Read more... )

I didn't know she went to Columbia, which school? It rained Tuesday, it hope it wasn't too crappy. Spike Lee? Yuck. I love his movies but I don't think he's terribly articulate as a speaker, or much of an original thinker. Didn't Barnard get Meryl Streep?

Teacher's college. She actually finished last December. We left Tuesday morning, so fortunately we didn't get caught in the rain.

Spike Lee really didn't have much to say. His speech was basically "education is good."

Does the diet at least require exercise?

Actually, they tell you to cut back on exercise if you're already doing it, and to delay starting if you haven't, because until your body adjusts to less calories, you won't have as much energy.

Did the first day of it today, and yeah, I'm a bit light-headed.

My understanding of the way things work is that when you cut back on your calories, your body reacts by slowing sown your metabolism, so calorie-reduction without exercise to keep your metabolism up is less productive than it might be, and possibly even counterproductive, especially once you're back to more normal intake.

I only saw the first two episodes of the first season, so I couldn't say. Jessica says the first season follows the first book pretty closely.

I'm not a huge fan - hence being several episodes behind - but I find Glee fairly entertaining.

As Brent mentioned the other day, Gloria would hate this diet. I'm kind of wishing we had gone with WW instead, as I understand you get to eat real meals.

Dude. I tried to get you to do WW. You refused. Your own fault.
