We woke early on Wednesday morning to a leisurly breakfast at the hotel and a read of the newspapers. From when I was in Guangzou (Canton), Chinese driving works because the drivers are incredibly laid-back. In Britain, if anyone cut someoneone up like the Chinese drivers do, they'd be sworn at and the 'victim' would be out for revenge. The Chinese, though, just laugh about it.

(I've seen them also drive the wrong way down an exit ramp onto a motorway. No one bothers...)

I have to agree with you. There really wasn't any sort of agression or territorialism like you'd see over here. They used the horns a lot but not in a threatening way.

Yes, they use the horns correctly as warnings rather than as punishment, something which I wish UK drivers realised...
