I agree with you, but let them sell their stuff for whatever they think is fair. Like you said, they'll figure out eventually that they are losing money and either stop selling or raise their prices. It's like a metaphor for capitalism :)

The thing is, while the ones who realize they are losing money pack up their toys and go home, there are always brand new people who come on in and act on the same delusions. They see the high prices of crafted goods (and by crafted I mean things made by people who are craftspersons), and think, well, I can't afford that, and moreover my little hobby time isn't worth all that much, so I'll just sell to support my habit so the people around me won't yell at me any more for all the time I'm wasting.

The discount delusion is also propped up by other areas of the "free market" where cheap prices carry a heavy cost for workers, other would-be competitors, and in the end, consumers. Don't even get me STARTED on coffee and bananas. Just know that when you buy something cheap, someone had to make that cheap thing, and someone had to ship it, and someone had to sell it. All three (billion) of those people had to take a hit to bring you that thing.

So, I know my argument hasn't been concluded, but I gotta go do something.
