Pet Supply Questions

Okay, so Kitty's food and water bowls are all from when we first got him about 5-6 years ago. The food bowl is a bit of a pain as sometimes the food get stuck so you have to shake it to loosen things up. And the water...well, it stagnates. I'm looking to definitely replace these. I'd like a food dispensor where I won't have to shake/tap it so ( Read more... )

I bought a filter water system for Delirium about 4 months ago, and it was WAY too compicated. I used it once, kept meaning to clean it out and try again and well, it hasn't happened yet. :P

Do you know which one you bought?

I'm kinda worried that's gonna be the same issue for me as well...in which case, I mind as well stick to what I have now.

You spoil your kitty don't you? I don't really need an automatic feeder as my cat regulates his eating well...he's used to having food around so he doesn't overeat. Besides, he fishes food out of his bowl with his paw...he's dainty and watching his figure. ;) I just having to hate tapping the damn canister so food comes pouring out when it gets stuck (which is often ( ... )

The auto feed filtered fountains of clean water... not worth it. They're more work than anything and really don't do anything special but take a good chunk of change out of your pocket. I'm in the market for new water dispenser and food bowl for Gunter. I'll most likely just get brand new items of what I had before. If they worked fine 7 years ago until about the last year then why not?

As for the food not dropping it could be the humidity? Not sure how long this has been going on but I have yet to have a problem with mine. If the food doesn't drop Gunter has learned a quick pawing of the food and wha'la! the food drops for her.

bah, i let my cat and pug drink out of the toilet. As for food, the pug eats out of the litter box and the cat gets whatever left over I leave on the plates in the sink or eats bugs like the roaches that come out at night. It's the circle of life. Plus, I figure if the cat dies then the pug could live off of the cat for at least a week. Now for the hamster, I feed him only my blood. I'm training him to be a vampire.

Sure! Would save me the hassle of having to go buy one and then return it if Kitty don't like it.

interesting conversation about pet supplies. i have been considering getting tigre a water fountain style, but realising that due to his habit of drinking water with his mouth full it is now probably not a good idea. i have to change his water twice a day due to it being "dirty" from food particles he leaves floating.

Didn't you ever teach your kitty not to drink with its mouth full? ;) hehe. My cat is meticulously neat.

actually this is new to him. i think he got into the habit during the eighteen months he was living with friends who had two young cats. i suspect he was wolfing down food for fear the young ones would take it from him then going to drink. i used to have a gravity water dish and didn't have this issue with dirty water.

So you can't teach an old dog new tricks but you can teach cats bad manners? Hehe.

Gravity water dish? Is that like a water cooler looking one where the water comes out whenever the level gets too low? I have one of those. The food one doesn't work too well as the food gets stuck sometimes so I have to shake it. But the water one isn't too bad...but the level is pretty low to begin with in the bowl part so I want to get a newer one. Plus, he likes running water more...or maybe the taste of tap cuz I give him brita filtered water. His stomach's sensitive.

I have no clue how my cat would react to other cats. I know he's not too fond of dogs, especially hyper ones given his reaction to Dan's pug (running away and hissing if the dog got too close). But he's kinda okay at the groomers with all the dogs barking...he's not happy, though. Though he did hiss at the groomer...but that's cuz he was getting shaved.
