I have several family members that have been in the military - Grandpa Cliff was in the Navy, Grandpa Jerry was a Marine (fought in Korea), my cousin Jeff was in the Navy, Jesse was in the Army, and my cousin Clayton is currently serving in the Marines.

While I did not know my grandfathers prior to their service or how it effected them, I have seen how the military has changed my cousins. Jeff and Jesse there was no drastic change, they both remain the outgoing family-oriented men that they were before. Clayton has shown the most change. He went from a boy that ran away from home and finally received the discipline and order he needed in the military. He has come home for his wedding and is completely different for the better.

I realize the military does change people, sometimes not for the best, and I am sorry that it has affected your friendships negatively.
