Can anyone shed any light on this?

I've just read on a posting on facebook quoting an article in Scarlet magazine, that the government is allowing employers to screen employers and potential employers for fetish/kink/S+M activities. Now as far as i know, if this was the case they would have to re-write the Sex Discrimination Act and the Gender Recognition act. I've tried to find ( Read more... )

I bet half the government is into fetish/kink activities.

Why should what you do outside of work have any effect on what you do inside work. I think they must be confusing fetish with peodophilia[sp?] or something.

Yeah i know, i really felt for Max Mosley, the shit that he got when he was outed from the media was out of order! The reason i ask is that i'm becoming a trainee nurse, working with a particularly vulnerable group, and my slight concern would be that if i was outed by someone else in my training placement with Leeds NHS trust what would happen? Obviously i would keep that part of my life totally separate to my work.

The Gender Recognition Act and the Sex Discrimination Act have nothing to do with "bedroom" behaviour.

If you want to look at legislation in this area, it would be the European Convention on Human Rights, now incorporated into law here.
