stick to vinyl. Never had an LP crash on me.
Think I've seen a number of reports of ipods locking up but can't remember what was suggested

No off button, so in the sense if letting the battery run down, yes, and it worked. ;)

I crashed my IPod a few months back.. just have to wait until it ran out of juice and then it let me restart it.
IPods and Macs never crash.. God's honest truth.. :p
