Bad cameraphone video of my apartment windows, transformed into 3 video screens. I used the windows' Venetian blinds as the projection surface... what you are seeing is the image AFTER it has passed through the thick white plastic of the blinds!

My neighbors like me.

Whenever I meet someone new in my building for the first time, I introduce myself as "the guy with the shiny apartment". They usually smile and say "oh, cool! how do you make your windows all different colors?", at which point I explain what I do for a living.

Whenever I do things like this (with video) I make sure to put family-safe content up. My favorite test material is the "Tomato Art Jam" included on Underworld's Everything, Everything DVD -- it's basically the video content for their entire live show. After I shot this clip, I was rockin' The Empire Strikes Back, to see how content with dynamic brightness levels would render (e.g. the Hoth scenes have tons of white, whereas Dagobah is very dark).

i know someone who's going to be shooting horror movies (or porn) into the neighbors' kids windows now when they annoy you..

I know someone who would get evicted from his very expensive and well-appointed apartment in a respectable neighborhood if he did that.

Besides, the beam angle on the projectors I'm using is 8' x 6' at a distance of around 20'... my nearest neighboring building in my community is at least 100' away. The image would take up the entire side of the building at that distance! :)
