Put Your Hands Up For Detroit

I've never been to Detroit. I wonder if Fedde LeGrand is even from Detroit?

Though Fedde LeGrand's "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" was a Summer 2006 electro clubfloor hit, and I am NOT one to favor the "electro" or "retro" sounds, this track had a nice bounce to it so, back when it came out, I decided to make my own revamped edit.

I wondered the same thing a few months ago, and discovered that Fedde le Grand is from The Netherlands:

It turns out he's the producer of one of my current favourite songs, "The Creeps" by Camille Jones.

Actually, my favorite mix of this track is by "That Kid Chris" Staropoli and is only available on the Tommy Boy promo 12" vinyl and CD. I got it way back in August 2005 as a leaked MP3 through my music pool, before the single ever came out and before it got its recent attention with the heavy promotion of the more electro mixes. Chris' mix is darker and more progressive.

When I searched for the tune and its remixes on iTunes a few weeks ago, I wondered why the release dates were July and August 2005, especially since I hadn't heard the single until early 2007. Then again, I'm just a connoisseur, not a DJ nor a member of a music pool.

Interestingly, iTunes has the "That Kid Chris" remix and dub versions available, as well as the Booty Cologne version listed on the Tommy Boy CD pictured above. They don't offer (surprise, surprise) the more recent Fedde le Grand mixes.
