BeSonic relaunches on September 1, 2005 - but without the old baggage
INFO TAKEN FROM
BESONIC FORUM Dear BeSonic Users,
Here's finally our latest Newsletter, which will inform you about the latest developments - the facts and schedule of the long-awaited BeSonic relaunch. The reason why we waited until today is, that we want to be able to come up with hands-on facts, as opposed to giving you unconfirmed information. And counteracting rumours, that we talk a lot and achieve little, find out in this Newsletter, what we have in store for you.
As you hopefully all know, we always appreciate your feedback and criticism, because your opinion is important to us. Your ideas will help return the BeSonic platform into a success!
The next Newsletter will be issued at the end of July/beginning of August and feature concrete details about BeSonic and the GEMA (German collecting society), amongst others.
The info in this newsletter might throw up a lot of new questions. You're welcome to contact us via e-mail (redaktion@besonic.net). We will endeavour to address your main questions in the next BeSonic Newsletter and reply to specific requests via e-mail.
Sincerely Your BeSonic Editorial

1. BeSonic resumes work!
Let's start with the most anticipated news! The relaunch of BeSonic is imminent! The schedule is: September 1st. 2005, start of the test phase with access for selected users. Provided that everything runs smoothly, we'll go online to the broad public between the beginning/middle of the fourth quarter!
The "old" familiar BeSonic system was reprogrammed from scratch and specifically improved. The redevelopment took up a lot of time, in some cases more than we had planned. We hope the outcome will make up for it. Be up for a surprise!
2. New Layout:
Let action speak louder than words! We've attached a screenshot of the new BeSonic Design for you:
http://www.besonic.com/_new/ We might still make a few amendments and refinements from where the above layout is now, until we have the final version for the official relauch. But so far, this is it! We hope you like it!
3. New and approved features
You might want to know, which features we kept and what's new at BeSonic:
The new Besonic is the old BeSonic as we knew it before the crash, including all the good old functions:
But the new BeSonic will also focus on more quality. To do that, we will need your assistance. The system will restart without the "old" baggage or data, which means we'll largely rely on you to upload loads of new content onto the platform. We hope to motivate you with a number of attractive services, such as free test subscription models, new features and more added values.
The so-called BeSonic "Reactor" will be a professional music evaluation tool, which will reach way beyond our scout system and collaborate with various members of the music buiz, amongst others.
An A&R and publishing section will get artists in touch with the music business, produce samplers and promote BeSonic artists.
We'll press - print - promote CDs, posters, flyers and other printwork for you at good value for money - merchandising will be sold in our own shop system. Got you all curious? Look forward to all those new features!
We're planning a shop for low priced music instruments and equipment from a large assortment.
These new services and shops will be implemented one by one, after the relaunch. There are even more services in the planning stage.
4. Fees
As we already mentionned in our last Newsletter, BeSonic will no longer be all free.
The new BeSonic has solid financial backing, in order to stand a realistic and long-term chance on the market - for artists and fans alike. The fee of 8 EUR a month for (non-GEMA) artist access remains. The so-called "Premium access" will hold exclusive services and a number of discounts in store. Artists will be able to charge for their own downloads.
Fans and visitors will still be able to use the BeSonic platform for free, unless they buy a "Premium-listener-status", for access to a number of discounts and vouchers (mentionned in the last newsletter) for the above services and shops, and for extra functions on the Besonic platform. The different standard or premium-level user and artist models, its features and advantages will be properly introduced in the next BeSonic Newsletter.
We will use Firstgate and Paypal to process payments at BeSonic, first of which is very popular on the German market and works with many other large portals. BeSonic users can use their Firstgate account and comfortably pay for all Besonic services, including all other websites, which accept Firstgate.
5. GEMA
Compared to the info in the last newsletter and following long negotiations with the GEMA, we have good news: We at BeSonic are planning to accept GEMA-registered artists. Especially after our experiences in the past, we need to make sure we have cleared up all the legalities and settled the required conditions, in order to proceed with this aim.
We are planning to meet at GEMA in Munich between Juli/August, where we hope to finalise our verbal agreements and sign a deal with the GEMA. The aim of our negotiations are, that we will be authorized to accept GEMA artists and authors on the BeSonic platform, whilst collecting the fees on behalf of the GEMA.
Part of the negotiations will also be to set a fee for GEMA-artists and to specify how they will have to proceed payments, as well as to formulate standard contracts for BeSonic & Authors and BeSonic & GEMA, respectively. More about that in the next BeSonic Newsletter.
6. Your BeSonic Team
We're always asked: What is BeSonic? Who's behind it? and How big is BeSonic?
BeSonic is and has always been a platform, for artists and fans alike, offering a broad spectrum of music. We think it is less important to know, who the depicted owner on the imprint is. The question about it has created a lot of rumours, lately.
The important thing is what BeSonic is, what it can do, and where it goes. Here's a brief outline on who's who behind the scene - Your BeSonic Team and contacts:
Walter Grieger, CEO
Thomas Albustin, Project Leader
Michael Kolepke, Head of Editorial and Organisation
Jasmin Heinrich (Internat.), Daniel Bregulla (German), Editorial and Support
Sascha Nepper, Head of Systems Management
