Looks nice to me!countfroggyJanuary 12 2005, 16:48:35 UTC
Rachie, I copied the floor plan. Outside of wall to wall bookcases for all your stuff, what can I do to help? (Just kidding---as The Dadu, it is my job to keep your head from swelling too much). Okay, you know the drill; make cutouts to scale for each piece of furniture, and move them around on a floorplan printed to the same scale. Wish I had an accurate floorplan before we moved.
My personal preference would be to use BR2 as the master; it is slightly larger and has the private bathroom. BR1 is the better for the computers; you can dash in and check your email (Adam too). I'd suggest against trying to squeeze a table into the kitchen - looks too small. Maybe a small microwave cart against the wall. You could store pots/pans inside it. (I've got just the thing!) Countertop space looks tight too (More than you have today) Maybe put the toaster on top of the microwave.
Call me later and I'll willingly share ALL my decorating ideas! (you may prefer to ask Mom, I'll understand!
I agree with Mr. C. about making BR2 as the Master.
Do you want a definite dining area and a definite living room? Without knowing where the outlets are, you can make that distinction further with a table/curio. The side with the china going on the side of dining room (for when you entertain a la buffet style) and the other side putting a couch for the living room. Remember being in my house and how the china curio distinguishes sitting area from piano/dining area? Yeah, same idea.
What are you allowed to install in the apartment? I can definitely see a baker's rack in the kitchen. Acts as decorative chandelier AND storage of pretty pots and pans.
The hallway - specifically that portion against the kitchen? Long bench. Extra seating, area to put on/off shoes, place bags that you and Adam may need to bring to work...you get the idea.
In any event, tre magnifique! Seriously. Looking forward to visiting there when you're all settled. :-)
So I crash in bedroom number one, or possibly the bathtub when I visit? Looks good to me.
Also, I've found Ikea is pretty good for space-saving contraptions. Maybe you have an aversion to them, or there isn't a store around locally, but they've got some neat stuff.

There is one RIGHT near Adam's current office, and I'm pretty sure there's one near where my parents live (about an hour from our new place).
Yes, Bedroom one is where the second bed, computers, and PS2 (when we get it) will be - along with you when you come to visit.
