I notice a lot of christians believe that what they want to do is what Gods will is even if it is not.

You notice that a lot of girls will believe it is Gods will to marry the guy they are dating even though the guy disrespects them and is totally wrong for them. Or you will notice someone insist that it is Gods will they be a pastor of a church (Gary) even though most everyone with a clear head can plainly see that it is not his calling.

I just think humans by nature, even professed christians, are inheritantly selfish and will try to claim it is Gods will to justify their own ambitions and desires even when that is clearly not the case.

Yeah, right on.
That is why counsel and partners and the scripture are all so important to keep us in check. And the sad part is we don't just make ourselves look like fools we make people think bad about God cause when we speak falsely for him.

Now don't get me wrong God does use people and prophets and teachers, etc.. but the spirit of it is different when God set it up, it's humble instead of proud, loving instead of self-serving, there's whole lists all through the New Testament to demontrate ot people how to tell the difference between when God is doing something through a man, and when man is doing something for religion.

Peace.

Yeah, I hear really good things about Genesis from time to time. And it's not that there is no sense of family there, it's just that you have to work real hard in any big church to become part of the family.. generally speakin. But if God's called you to Genesis get involved in the home groups so people can get to know you.

And Yes, the story of Saul/Paul is cool.

BTW.. Who is this?

Thanks for the LJ, it was a blessing. I have been stubborn and not wanting to let some stuff go lately that I know God wants me to let go of. My flesh seems particularly strong lately if you know what I mean. I need to work on showing peace and gentleness instead of anger and selfishness.
