It takes considerable courage to be a Japanese Bush Ninja. This is because dogs often use bushes as emergency fire hydrants. This in turn, is the reason most Japanese Bush Ninjas wish they were Scottish - so they could wear a kilt instead of a bush.
But deep in their hearts they know that even they are very brave, and possess much courage, they could NEVER be brave enough to wear a Kilt. Which is why they must remain in the bush league.

Forgot to mention.. there seems to be more information on the internet regarding wearing kilts than there is on hiding behind bushes. Why is that? Here is just one teeny tiny example... http://unclerickysperigrinations.blogspot.com/

[Ha! Shameless advertisement!]
Although I must admit that it takes real courage for a Japanese Bush Ninja (or anyone for that matter) to wear a kilt, and I respect that, I do have to tell you a little story.
It was once experimented for JBN's to don plaid kilts to see what effect it would have in battle. When they jumped out of the bushes, the Spainards became blinded by the incredibly strange sight of the ninjas wearing nothing but kilts. And some died instantly because of the shock. (some say it was the hypnotic plaid designs but it was eventually agreed upon that Japanese Bush Ninjas wearing kilts = weird) As well as being weird, It was also decided upon that this was an unjust and uncivil way to battle so the idea was promptly abandoned.

Perceptions are interesting and by nature, subjective.
You imply that wearing a kilt is weird. I'll grant you that it is not mainstream or common, but isn't that what young people strive for? Do YOU want to be mainstream or common? Don't you want to be an individual? A nonconformist? Kilt wearers can call punkers conformists! Can you? Hiding behind a bush AND wearing a kilt... That's weird.
But hiding behind bushes is not what kilt wearers do because they have nothing to hide. They don't need the element of surprise to frighten their enemies. They are proud to stand out in the open. In fact, the very act of standing out in the open is enough to cause their enemies to shrink back and reconsider the folly of violent engagement. The Scot wins without even lifting a finger! Now that's civilized! You call hiding behind a bush civilized?
No my dear friend... Perceptions may be interesting and subjective, but they can also be wrong.
May your perceptions continue to be honed on the stone of experience.

You COULD become a Scottish Bush Ninja though.

I think one day we should duke the two out together. That would be interesting.
