Yes, I admit I'm a huge HP fan. I got into the shit by accident, simply accompanying my little neices and nephews to the second movie years ago and liking it. Then Dave bought the books and I picked up reading one rather reluctantly. I can't even remember which one I read first, but I slowly got pulled in. I liked the exposing of Dumbledore's dark past - heroes are too often presented as perfect. I wish Harry could have had a few more flaws, in fact.

And yeah, Dobby's death probably hit me the hardest.

Something that's very cool about the last few books is her well-crafted presentation of the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore's Army. Mass media rarely presents even a glimpse of realistic struggle against oppression, leaving our society struggle-illiterate. At least in the english-speaking world, these books are probably as widely read as the bible - making all of this a fixture of our common culture for at least a generation.
