FRIENDS ONLY NOW

Oct 02, 2006 12:00

Due to a new employment position I've accepted with The Weather Channel (first as a contractor, moving to fulltime in three months), my journal is now friends-only.

Hooray for steady employment and benefits, right?

Well, I already have independent health benefits. And I'm actually not employed fulltime quite yet... I'll be starting as a contractor for three months, then move to fulltime.

And the new employer? The Weather Channel

If I have time later today, I'll write a post about the process - it all happened so incredibly fast.

More than just health benefits. I'm happy for you.

Well, benefits (health or otherwise), this is a great feather in my cap to put on my resume... and the salary is incredible, too.

Being not-employed myself, all I can say is "Yay!" for employment.

Well, I've been self-employed as a freelance web designer for about four years... but I've missed the regularity of a steady paycheck. And this job just fell into my lap last week. Considering the salary they offered me and the location, I'd be a fool to pass it up.

I think working with the Weather Channel would be exciting, but then I have always had an inclination for weather forecasting and the TV channel that goes with it. :)

Meteorology was my second choice major after astronomy... and I've been a Weather Channel fan for over 20 years... so this is quite an honor for me. It hasn't even really hit me yet.
