local adventures

I've decided what livsmama needs for Christmas is some adventure. The problem is if you present an adventure someone doesn't want it's just added stress, but presenting someone with an adventure "of their choice" it's a cop out.

So! I'm asking people to suggest local adventures. I might present them as a tournament, or choose one if it's an obvious good

1.) have the kids taken care of, w/no work from Julia.

2.) create a scavenger hunt to the things in town (of what, I will have to rely on those in the Twin Cities).

3.) ending at a hotel out of town. With, uh, flowers.

Considering that I don't know the Twin Cities, that's the best I can come up w/off the top of my head.

The "scavenger hunt" would be fun as a "progressive dinner," going to two or three of your favorite restaurants for drinks, appetizers, main course, dessert. Of course, I don't know if the running around would make Julia crazy.

we make a point of keeping up with the local restaurant scene, so I'm thinking specifically of something not food-oriented, nudging her out of her habits into something refreshing.

Several yrs ago D and I spent a day just doing museums. Totally unstructured - we just wandered as we chose - and it was a blast!
We did the Walker, MIA and the Weisman. We saw things we never could have lingered over w/kids.

And of course I always recommend theatre adventures. But she's also into classical music. I wonder if there might be an SPCO concert or even Orchestra Hall some evening? I think there is some smoking deal on SPCO tickets for $10/ea...am trying to remember the details now.
