I am (as of an hour and a half ago) teaching a additional course this term. The original instructor (who really really wanted the course, and that's the only reason I didn't get it) has become too sick to teach it, and I really love the course (and can't say no) so I agreed to take it over. As far as last-minute teaching assignments go, this sounds like an ideal situation for you. Aside from the missing lecture time I think you have everything going in your favour.
