I lied.
This wasn't the post I wanted to make after THE HUNGER GAMES, this is. But then the first post just got super long and I had to cut out my thoughts on the first two episodes. So here they are:
EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL. I was watching some the old episodes and the quality difference is stark. They've stepped up for Korra.

As far as bending privilege goes, we already know that things such as entertainment seem to be reserved for benders only. So if a non-bender kid grows up dreaming of being a pro-bender, they can't. And non-bending boxing doesn't seem to be popular or any non-bending entertainment for that matter. But this is only the first three episodes. We still don't know much. We'll see how they play this out.
I don't know why people were mad about Korra being so shamelessly naive in the first episode. I'm excited about how much she's going to grow in the next few months.YESSSSSSSSSS. People don't understand character development. There's gonna be SO MUCH growth, in story and character, this series. I'M SO EXCITED!!!! \O/ I'm honestly excited for the brothers-relationship development. I love the way their team treats siblings in this ( ... )

Also, who had the idea that Amon = Bumi? o_O Like KING Bumi???
Bumi is one of Katara's and Aang's kids, and it was posted on ontd_lok that he was a non-bender. It looked legit, anyway.

Also, I take back what I said about "bending privileges." That's probably the way non-benders see it but they don't analyze BEYOND that. This is an amazing summation of my feelings <33333 (Edited link)
/last edit, I swear.

I do adore this show so much. I have so much respect for Bryke and the Avatar/Korra teams. There's so much good that I feel like it balances out any bad that comes up. I do feel like the newer episodes are going a bit too quickly for my liking - not enough focus on the actual plot or Korra's forays into airbending and spirituality (my favorite ep so far was ep 2, specifically BECAUSE of the focus on her training and spirituality; it's what I adored about ATLA) and too much focus on ~relationships~. I adore Asami and Korra, though, and I hope they get to be bffs. And I adore Bolin and Tenzin. And Lin.

But it is so weird to actually miss the filler episodes from Avatar! It's really where the characters got fleshed out and we all fell in love with them. Korra, in comparison, is going so fast...
