I joined the Navy DEP in July, and I'm supposed to ship to Boot in January. I took the DLAB a few months ago and my contract change request was sent in immeadiatly, and I'm still waiting on the transfer to go through. I was supposed to be an AO at first. and i wanted to change my job to CTI. when i took my DLAB they told me i did great but there wasn't a spot open. so my recruiter was calling them up almost everyday to get me a spot. the people actually laughed at him once! but we finnally got it and i'm getting ready to get out of here. it took about 4 months to get me that spot.

i was in the army so i had a different situation. but waiting times all depend on what language they are trying to get you into. some of the languages take forever b/c the seats are usually filled pretty quick. the time between boot and now isn't that long. i had an entire year before i reached DLI between when i took my DLAB and when i left. what language are you looking to take? what did you get on the DLAB?

yeah. its a little different for the Navy. we know we're going to DLI but we have no idea what language we're going to get til we get here.

If you do get here, and its the way its going, you'll probably get Chinese. but Arabic is also a big chance too.

just keep bugging your recruiters about the job. i'm sure a spot will open up!

I'd like to get into Chinese (I knew a bit about Japanese once), but I understood getting in that they might just stick me with Arabic.
