I know I had to cut out lifting in the beginning and focus on cardio to get my metabolism going. I found that activities worked better than just jogging. I did some video aerobics and whatever goofy stuff the gang did on cookouts and whatnot. After a few months, I did get back to lifting and my body took to it better than it had in years.

Also, I would also suggest keeping your diet varied. I was able to cut portions and still enjoy the food I love which was a gigantic help. It was only when I stepped away from this idea that the weight piled back on.

I hope this helped.

I gained back a small part of the weight I lost in the last couple of years because I stopped thinking about what I was eating.

On the food front you might want to get a small notebook and write down what you are eating. It doesn't have to be super detailed (this morning I wrote down Breakfast at 8:30, English Muffin, Coffee with skim milk and splenda).

It's super easy to be eating more than you need to even when you think you are being good.

I started keeping track of what I have been eating only about 5 days ago, and even that has helped me lose almost 2 pounds of the weight I had gained back.
