This was completely unexpected, but we have been adopted by a little feral kitten! We have not had any pets since our parakeet Pippin died in 2011, so this is going to be fun and challenging! At least the kitchen remodel is finished! lol ( Read more... )

Awwww, what a sweetie! Makes you wonder what happened to her mom. :(

She really is - I was so not expecting that given that she was a feral kitten. And yeah - I was hoping we could find the mom somehow too, but there's been no sign of her. :(

Hi hon! Great to hear from you too! It's going to be an adjustment to keep her, but we love her so it'll be good. :) I hope to be around more - between the kitchen remodel and my grandmother dying, my time last year was pretty much taken. I'm very pleased with how the kitchen turned out - and I do plan to post more pictures at some point. ^.^

And I forgot to answer - yes, her name is Zoe. :)

What an adorable little fur ball. <333
Thank you for sharing your heart warming story. Cats just know how to steal our hearts, don't they?

She is - very adorable. I think we were smitten immediately. *grin* They do indeed. I've always so enjoyed your posts about your cats, but wasn't sure I could have one because of allergies. But I seem to have no trouble with that now. :) So yay!

She is so beautiful! You've done so well in being there to be adopted and then taking such wonderful care of her. It's like receiving a gold star from the cat world, and well deserved!

Thank you!! I have always so enjoyed your posts about your cats, and especially the newest kitten. :D They are so adorable and funny and omg getting-into-everything! One of the first things I got was a little collar with a bell on it to help me keep track of her, and even that doesn't always work, since she has lately learned to walk without making it ring. ;-) I'd love any good advice you have on kittens; I consider you to be an expert!

Given how naughty Rusketus is, I have deducted points from myself lately! But we have found that encouraging good behaviour works better than punishing bad. There may be inappropriate weeing, this is usually in response to either stress or fussiness. An extra litter tray or more frequent cleaning will help with the latter, while safe spaces and calm will help with the former. I read an article today saying that boxes are the answer, Monster would say boxes and beds to hide under, while Cookie and Ruus prefer high spaces and nooks, like the spare bit of a bookshelf. We have a lot of little places they can make into cat spaces, laundry baskets are left on the ground, shelves have empty bits, beds have pillow piles they can perch on or worm into.

Collar is a brill idea, and if you can keep her indoors, her life expectancy is doubled. She will need to supervise everything! That will never change :-) you are a fine human!

Oh, thanks so much! :D *grin* I have really enjoyed reading about Rusketus's misadventures. I'm sure it's much funnier to read about ( ... )
