And this entry is because I can't sleep...
So, if you have any opinions about vampires, please comment.
I get bored easily and love reading people's input.

Not that it's a predominant theme for 2008, but there have been several vampire stuff I've noticed as of late. 30 Days of Night was released on dvd, as well as Lost Boys: The Tribe. And there's ( Read more... )

wow....

I wanna see a vampire blow up if a priest or pope blesses them >.< That would be cool...

1. Crosses are a christian addition to the stories
2. Coffins are SO last century, my (goes into doll collector mode) vampire Atl sleeps on a fisherprice couch on a shelf in my room....
3. Wooden stake through the heart... YA EVERYONE WOULD FRIGGIN DIE!!! I figure they die from other types of stabbings too..

The whole light and frying thing is only one side of the story there are legends about vampires in almost every culture and all have different takes on all the qualities of a vampire, from the teeth and light alergy to where they get their blood from.

You did forget the all important thing about toilet visits... ^.^♥

I think the White Wolf / World of Darkness mythos had the best modern approach to the vampire ideal ( ... )

I was actually doing to mention WoD since I think their mythos/universe did it the best.

it's the faith of the one carrying the cross.
So, if a Jewish guy happened to hold a cross to a vampire, he'd be unprotected? And if you pass that same cross to well-faithed Christian, then it'd work? Or is it the faith itself? Like, could the Jewish guy hold up the Star of David and have the same affect?

It's that last part. It's the idea that one whose faith in the Holy and Ineffable, the Creation of Light, is strong enough to carry through the being and serve as protection from evil.

So, anyone of any religion who believes in a higher holy being of Good, has a chance. Satanists are just SOL.

Actually your wrong about that. Midnight sun is the last book in that series as we know of yet. Midnight Sun being the first book from Edwards point of view.

"3) Mentioning that one way to kill a vampire is a wooden stake through the heart - Seriously? What wouldn't die if I drove a wooden stake in their heart? And why wooden? Does their otherwise immortal heart gain an allergy towards wood? I'm sure any large enough impaling object should be sufficient. Are you telling me a steel poker through the heart of a vampire wouldn't be as affective? Otherwise, we'd see more movies where vampires are performing personal surgeries ala "Dead Man's Chest" style hiding their hearts from possible stabbage ( ... )

I thought the water that's blessed comes from a specific fountain in Rome?

After a quick-wiki:
"Holy water is water that has been blessed and set apart for baptism"
After reading the Wikipedia, I think I learned more about Holy Water than I ever needed to know.
Although, I now want to get a bunch of priests and open a bottled water business.
