Apologizing in advance, but this topic is in both the silly and inappropriate for children field. So, kids under 18, make the right choice and lie about your age before reading on

Asexuality, or a lack of sexual attraction to males or females, is a completely valid sexual orientation. The idea that being "human" automatically means that one is "sexual" is a myth. Asexuals aren't all "little virginal angels" either; you don't have to be a prude to not be sexual. Read the FAQ, you might learn something.
I think you've got the wrong idea here. "Little virginal angel" was in reference to my paragraph referring to L being "innocent" (quotation for emphasis only). I'm more than well aware of the validity of asexuality, however I don't see how that's relevant to this particular argument. I rarely if ever saw L portrayed as asexual even back then, but rather a sheltered virgin ignorant (but deliberately not asexual) to all matters of sexuality. More of a "poor sheltered L spends all of his time working and hasn't yet realized how fun sex and other allegedly 'naughty behavior' is".
Unless you're arguing about the political correctness of the widely used phrase "he's only human", which flippantly references the basic carnal urges and lure toward sexual intercourse that most people have - a debate which I'm not interested in having, not because I don't believe in asexuality but rather because of the complete irrelevancy to the topic at hand. :-/
Unless you're arguing that L is asexual, in which case, please feel free to elaborate.
I think L is an ordinary guy, as you say, with precious few social skills, who doesn't get out much and isn't used to people. You mention the way he ties Misa up, but what I noticed throughout that was that L never showed any prurient interest in her. Yes, she was restrained like something out of a porn video, but he was all business. He doesn't show anything like that until Misa is right in his face.
My theory would be that that side of him (perverted? playful?) only comes out around Light and Misa for a reason - regardless of whether L likes him, regardless of whether he's manipulating him, he's not entirely lying when he says Light is his first friend. "Acquaintance" would be a better word. In a more direct way than Light, he hasn't had peers. He hasn't been around people, really, besides Watari - he's never had an opportunity to be a child, and it emerges in odd ways.
That's my theory, anyway.
I think you really have to be reaching to see that scene as fapping. Light clearly doesn't think he is, and he's right there. Besides

Oh, I agree with you. I don't think L showed much interest in Misa, though the way he eats that banana during her commercial makes me wonder if maybe he did indeed have some sexual thoughts about her - but as far as she goes, the thoughts would be purely physical and nothing more. Light, on the other hand, is (as cliche as it sounds by now describing their relationship) on his level, probably the first peer on his level that he's encountered in a long time. So it's not surprising that L, even subconsciously, actively connects with him. I am, however, convinced that L does have a sexual side which is curiously hinted at, unlike any other character except for Misa and I suppose Takada. Though ultimately I suppose Ohba intended these things for comic relief, and to contrast from Light's sophistication and outward portrayal of (romantic) asexuality.
The video was more a joke to me than anything, but it kind of made me question just what he was doing because now I can't watch it and think of anything else. I always thought his grin when

That's what I was thinking - if L wanted to have sex, he would have sex. He's at least a millionaire (billionaire?), and he frankly does not have much of a moral compass. I could definitely see him hiring prostitutes or even going to sex clubs if he was interested. Throughout the series, L shows that he does what he wants and gets what he wants.
To me it's just curious how many instances there are in the series of L "being a pervert". I don't think it's coincidence. Of course, part of the appeal to L's character is that he's a mystery and we never know quite for sure who he is, but Ohba seems to definitely had at least this in mind.
Gah, my first impulse was to rant about the video, but someone has already pointed out that the scenes aren't "deleted" but new scenes for the Rewrite OVA

As far as the scene of L in the theater is concerned, I honestly think the main reason L was doing all of that stuff was to make Light uncomfortable. It's really just a warped psychology to use when trying to extort information, or provoke certain reactions. It works too. I've seen something similar done in RL! It's also a sort of adolescent prank that I could totally picture L getting a kick out of. I think that's the reason L was exaggerating the possibility that he had been doing something more than just sitting there waiting. He was trying way too hard to make it obvious
