Some people have stated that some of L and Near's personality and actions suggest they have varying degrees of autism/Asperger's. I don't know enough about ASD to judge, but I wonder if others have any thoughts about this?

Personally (as someone who has been professionally diagnosed with ASD), I think there is a possibility that L is somewhat autistic... I mean the way he acts kind of gives it away and no person-- especially a professional, would have those quirks willingly. It's natural for him to act that way and that's what he does in order to be the best at his abilities. Just because he is possibly autistic doesn't mean he cant be smart (I know a lot of people think of the disorder negatively even though I think it's unfair) As for Near I feel like he also has got some autistic traits though I can't know if either L or Near are autistic as I am not the writer of the manga or anime nor a professional to diagnose something like that-- I'm just talking from some experience with living with the disorder and yeah.
