I think you actually have to go to the "Neighbourhood" folder then click on the neighbourhood you sims are in

This kid's right. Go into 'My Documents'-'EA Games'-'The Sims 2'-'Neighborhoods'. There should be some numbered folders, they're usually in order of creation. So Pleasantview would be N001, your first custom neighbourhood would be N004, etc. Choose the correct folder, then go into the 'Storytelling' folder, your images should be there.
