There are a lot of awesome Death Note fics hidden out there, I'm sure. Totally amazing fics that have so little actual recognition that most fans pass them right by. I'm looking for said fics.

Can you guys rec me your absolute favorite Death Note fics, particularly ones not mentioned everywhere under the sun? Though I realize that what appears ( Read more... )

Have you read "True Elision" by Ezan yet? YMMV on the quality of writing, I admit it's far from perfect, but the plot is really amazing - it focuses largely on Light facing his problems in the afterlife and at the same time keeps him extremely IC. It's also technically Light/L, but so far nothing has really happened between them.

"Verloren" by Li the Twilight Knight is also a pretty good fic. I assume it's set in the same universe as TE and it has a lot of "borrowed" elements from that fic, but what I really liked about that story is how it takes a fandom cliche and and turns it into something really original. It's also Light/L.

"Once is Once" by Keyhala - another long, plot driven AU that explores an interesting concept of L being related to some sort of supernatural creatures.

"Kingdom Come" by Nyx-Zephyrus - an AU in which Light wins and takes L his prisoner. Also technically slash, but so far there had only been hints of it.

Then there's also pretty much anything by Serria, Silver Pard, Mikanis, and labingiAnyway, that's all I can ( ... )

Yo.

I'm coming in a bit late, so you might've found these by now, but I have a few suggestions.

---Genius is a Curse by Bloodshot Eyes. It's more of a gen!fic, but it centres around L and Raito. It's brilliantly written and the idea is rather original. It's not finished yet, but it's definitely worth the read on-going.

---Changeling by romantiscue. It's a HPDN crossover that I love, and it's also a bit more along gen!fic. The plot here is also really original, and it's not a wham-bam-thanks-man sort of fiction either, but is pretty in-depth and fascinating. Still on-going.

---Alternative Gods by Le KING. This is, quite literally, the best thing I've ever read. Then again, I'm a tech nerd, so naturally I would find this awesome. It's Raito/L, cyberpunk, and completely original. It has dry humour, brilliant characterisation, witty dialogue (as much as L can handle, anyway), and is made of pure win. Besides, it makes you think, and that's something that a lot of fics don't have nowadays. I definitely recommend this one ( ... )

Um, what about "Of Music" by Mikanis on fanfiction.net? Incomplete but so incredibly written, it's AU but beyond amazing - a 14 page tennis match had me on the edge of my seat and breathless, not kidding, it is one of the most brilliant things I've ever read. Don't know if you've already read it but thought I would mention it anyway. :)
