It was, but I suppose it can be said to be typical of him. [a bit of a chuckle, and, getting the implication that this other person didn't have anyone he knew here...] I guess.

[still, Light knows to be careful around potentially sensitive topics!]

Perhaps both. [he almost sounds fond of him, except not really -- L would always keep an eye out for what he was doing, since he hadn't once stopped suspecting Light to be Kira, it was clear to him.]

That's for sure. [he would have asked for a name, and to befriend this person, but seeing as he's not intending on showing his own face, this could wait. Meanwhile, he supposes he could ask for any further information past what is already provided to him]

Meanwhile, do you think there might be anything a newcomer like me should know?

Oh, I've got that much. [thankful for the advise, nonetheless.] I've got what the natives call a Magikarp. [he doesn't sound particularly unhappy as he says this, but it's not that he doesn't know how weak it's rumored to be.]

Yeah. Not the best thing to start with, huh? [he's doesn't sound any less friendly, showing that it doesn't bother him at all.] But I'm sure hard work would change that.

[This entire place is interesting, in its own right, but that doesn't mean that he'll be willing to stay here for an extended period of time, of course -- though the fact that L had been here for three months so far does mean that he probably has no choice either way]

That's interesting to note, but perhaps these pokemon merely take different forms, compared to the common birds, insects and animals that we might see from our own origin worlds.

[and, well, possess strange abilities as well. He'll just observe that Misdreavus for a moment, watching it closely -- not that Bakura would know that, of course -- but he'll refrain from commenting on that for now.]
