002: Accident [accidental video // action closed to outskirts of new bark]

[for all intents and purposes, video feed comes on to reveal static, followed by... well, nothing, really. There's also the audio feed, though, and apart from background music, you'll hear muffled commands from Light.]

Euphrates, use Tackle! [it's not like he's got much of a choice apart from that, really...]

[while he isn't entirely comfortable with light, not only because he doesn't know him, but just because he isn't often comfortable with people, he still manages to stick ... close by; which, for him, is just shy of being out of eyesight. still, he does have some excuse for that: his poochyena is the one who runs off to attack wild pokemon on its own, so he does have to stray a little ways away to keep up with it.

this time, though, he does manage to return from one of poochyena's aggressive expeditions to catch the tail end of light's battle. he is quiet for a few moments before he speaks.]

You caught it?

Yeah. [he says that, while moving forth to pick up the ball in which his new Pidgey is contained]

How did things go over your side?

Okay... I think. Mine mostly does everything on its own, but he hasn't really been hurt so far.

That's a relief, at least. [a smile, again. The little pooch's expeditions cause them to sidetrack a little from time to time, but since it gives him plenty of time to have Euphrates beat down a few wild Pokémon, he doesn't particularly mind it.] I think he could be a little more obedient, though, if you gave him commands. He seems to be eager to prove himself to you, if anything.

It's pretty easy -- Pokémon seem to understand human speech, so talking to him would probably let you do just that easily enough.

[Poor pooch, oblivious of what's to happen eventually~]

But talking to it and commanding it are two different things . . .

Right, but you'll find that they are, in fact, not all that different. Why don't you just try it out, and see how he reacts?

Ah... [looking down at his poochyena, trying to think of a simple command.]

Sit.

[the poochyena just looks up at sergio. what is a sit what what is it a fun thing is it our new friend :D? :D? :D??]

[well. It's clear he's having a bit of trouble getting used to the little pooch.] Here, let me try--

Poochyena? Come over here, won't you? [friendly as usual, and thinking of patting it a little, to at least gain its trust, before trying to give it little commands.]

[:O!! what is this what is happening over there! coming over expectantly!!

meanwhile, sergio feels incompetent/embarrassed/some combination of the two, as he does.]

... Oh.

[he notices this, but he'll keep quiet about it. Meanwhile giving his poochyena a little patting on the head, and scratching behind the ears]

They seem to be able to understand complete sentences, if anything. [he's just going to comment] Why don't you try again?

[yayyyy affection!! licking light's hand.]

... I might as well. [incredibly reluctant to make a fool of himself again, he crouches down this time, putting his hand out. his voice doesn't sound as warm, but he does sound fairly earnest.]

... Here Poochyena. Come here.

[and poochyena.... comes over!! licking sergio's hand happily and tail wagging excitedly.]

There. That wasn't so bad, was it? [it's almost like nurturing the younger brother he never had]

[a warm smile. He supposes it's alright for Sergio to take a bit more time to bond with his partner, while he lets his Magikarp take a rest in the pond nearby, later.]

Just keep at it, and you'll have have him listening obediently to every single command you give him.
