this was sad but you wrote it well.

"Life goes on, right?" Jon said, softly.

"Right," came Spencer's sleep deprived voice from the other end of the line.

I like how you made them able to still talk to each other after the incident.

"I really, really…" He had trailed off and Jon had waited. He'd known what was coming next, but he had waited all the same. "…wish that I could. I tried, to like you. I did."

This part was interesting to me. Usually the other person doesn't romantically like the other person at all or even try to in most unrequited fic.

Thank you so much. I hate writing sad things. They make me all upset.

It just seemed right that they should talk afterwards, like their relationship could withstand that stuff.

Does the unrequited thing seem unrealistic? I don't know. It's just like drawing from observations of situations like this, it made sense.

no the unrequited thing does not seem unrealistic at all. I liked the change from the norm of most unrequited!fic I have read :)
