Except that now they were both a good deal older, and Sotek's fingers were a lot more sensitive. He blinked furiously before looking where she pointed their hands, swallowing. He wasn't very good with horses. In fact, he usually avoided the stables.
"It's - in the main house," he managed, starting toward it. "I do not ride will." that was said stiffly. Mostly because he was embarrassed.
Using this name so I can have a female PB...XDdntcallmematronMarch 10 2010, 05:58:07 UTC
She noticed that stiffness, and after a few minutes, she gnawed her lip in an old habit before letting his hand go. "Right. Sorry. I knew better then that, I'm just...yeah." Her cheeks flushed, and she took a few steps to the side to give him plenty of room as they headed for the house.
"I warned you in my letters that I get hyper...." Their letters. She wrote him as often as she could get her hands on the comm, spilling out everything to the boy who'd become her friend. They'd grown up together through them. Well, at least, he'd grown up with her.

Sotek glanced at her and the distance, and nodded. And very subtly closed the distance to walk beside her instead. He'd grown up with her, and sent his responses as promptly as his time would allow; there were no other children on the estate. She was his only source of childhood. Even if human and Vulcan childhoods were very different.
She smiled again when he moved back over to her side, though she did loop the pack over one shoulder before shoving her hands into her pockets. Just to make sure she didn't grab him again on impulse. She kept her head down as she walked, no longer looking around quite as carefree as she had been.
There was an edge to her. An inner source of something that could really only be identified as hystria...but Jo hoped that he didn't have enough experence with emotions to see that edge.
Or to question the sudden decision to spend her summer holiday on a ranch in New Mexico. Or why her letters had stopped for a few months before she'd sent the transport information...
They reached the shade of the house, and she painted on a smile that looked just like a natural one before she let herself into the kitchen door.
"Anyone home?" Of course, she was looking for T'Les. Her father was off in some quadrent of uncharted space somewhere.
