Where the whine flows like water

It's too much and I can feel myself wavering on the verge of breaking down completely. It's stress overload, but combined with the exhaustion that whatever is ailing me leaves behind, it's just too damn much and I don't know what to do ( Read more... )

You absolutely did the right thing: you stepped in. When someone is displaying a cry for help as blatantly as she is, it's never bad to take charge and be the one to make the tough decision. I, for one, know that if my mom ever threatened it with me again I would A)Not go over there, B)Call 911 immediately and let the professionals take care of it. I think too often we (ie. people in general) believe that we can "talk someone out of it." However, I am a firm believer in turning a suicidal person over to those who can help her - a doctor/pscyhologist/another qualified specialist. Plus, when the person who is threatening suicide gets the $$$$ bill, they'll never EVER try it again ( ... )

I back up what Lorelei said completely. And agree on your choice of song. Go woman.

But on with the rest. Shirley, my ex roommate, lost a ton of her friends when they kept telling her that her ex-boyfriend was mean and he had changed her for the worse. She pulled away from them and stopped having many friendships. But now that she's in a better place she's contacted many again and told them how much it meant that they tried to show her the way out of the bad relationship. I know it's slightly un-related to what you're going through, but ultimately, if things go well for her, she will understand what you've done in the end. You may never have the same friendship, but you will know you kept someone alive, and that is the beautiful thing to do.
