My mother moved in with my younger sister and her husband about 10 months ago, when her divorce from my father and the sale of their house were finalized.
My sister gave birth to my niece five months ago.
And now she has a new profile picture on Facebook: Her glasses look exactly like my mother's, as does her hairstyle. The picture was taken in LA ( ( Read more... )

Oh, that is disturbing.

My graduation photo looks eerily like my grandmother as a young woman. It freaked the shit out of me.

Odd thing is that my sister, without the accoutrements, looks exactly like my paternal grandmother as a young woman. Makes me wonder: Is she dressing that way to mask the resemblance to my father's side of the family? Or is she just adopting my mother's stylings through proximity?

One of my sisters has the exact face my mom had at that age, but now my mom looks quite different so it's not uncanny in regular life, just when looking at the picture of my mom as a young woman she keeps on the wall. On the other hand she has our maternal grandmother's hair, so she combines both women. :)

All three of us children ended up looking so different, yet so clearly related. It's amusing.

She visits frequently because my brother-in-law's business is there. (He's in the music business, and he's getting increasingly involved in film music.) Which is why they're looking to move to LA, but for now they're still stuck in AZ.
As soon as I know when/where they're moving, I'll let you know.
