Could it be the fates are protecting me?

I’ve been as happy as a bag of wigs the last two days. Yeah, Sunday not so fun since I did that whole I-need-to-go-crazy-at-least-once-now-that-I-live-in-Chicago-and-I’m-just-now-realizing-that-I-actually-am-home-and-not-just-visiting thing. Now that I’m through with that I’m ready for a constant Carnival of Feet good time ( Read more... )

I found the fact you included a definition of -cum- (the non colloquial one) interesting.

Coathangers really can act as an antennae as well as hang clothes? Wow. Thought was just a myth. Glad it's working out. Bad reception (or none) is just annoying.

There is no way for me to imagine how it must be having moved to a new city and adapting to that. It must be really weird.

Glad you treated yourself. I'm sure it doesn't happen often enough and you need to celebrate big moments in life. Enjoy the DVD.

1) I didn't want anyone to think that I was being naughty-naughty without a lj-cut :-) and It's amazing how many people have no idea that -cum- is an actual word.

2)not just any hangers...it must be a wire hanger...which means I had to scour my apartment for a wire one. I'm worse than Joan Crawford when it comes to wire hangers cause they really do suck. Thankfully I found one from the dry cleaner and it works as a great antennae!

Thanks for the support...I think for moving 400 or miles from home that things are going amazingly well!

I've bought a lot from there and never had a problem. It takes about a week for the movies to come, but when you save about $3 on every movie you buy, it's worth the wait.

I second user Kilelana's note! Dictionary-linked definitions.
("Illini" : define). Now we must come visit you!
Also over-the-air TV channels are the best. I have over-the-air channels. Sometimes I watch South Park or the Simpsons. PBS has some good timmy on occasion (Keeping up Appearances, and more). I bet that the local Chicago library( / ies) have a nice dvd selection, too! You could get a card if you do not have one already. I take great advantage of the ones here. I just saw Capote on dvd from it a little bit ago.

I actually have no idea where the nearest library is...but I did find a video store on Halsted that rents DVD's for super cheap...which is where I'm going until I get my cable hooked up :-)
I know the main branch downtown has it's own stop off the El so maybe one of these days I'll just hop on the El until is stops at the library!

You should be all set.. you can hop on the "El" J. Next stop : blogs!
One can stay on the line until one sees books. Not a moment sooner.
Here is a map of Chicago with the locations of all of the libraries :

http://www.chipublib.org/002branches/cplmap.html

The 'near north' location looks to be reasonably (around 4 miles) close to your place.

discussion questions :

1. Do subway flyers count as 'books'? Discuss.
2. Which Chicago library is closest to Geoff's house? That's right, none of them. heh.

You know what's really funny is that according to that map I pass a public library every day on my way to the El....
The Merlo branch is on my street...in fact, it can't be more than 2 or 3 blocks from my house on the same street.
I feel like an uber-dork now...

LOL I can sort of relate....when I bought my car, it was a used car but new to me car. It was like I was borrowing it for like...a week before it set in that it's MY car. lol
Under $10 is an awesome price for any DVD. Good job!!

Thank you, thank you, I love finding good deals on the internet! And yes, it's only been a couple weeks and it's just now settling in that I'm not going home...mainly because I am home. Totally weird because I never had this feeling when I moved to Columbus from Toledo.
