Since I'm finally done being clobbered at work for two days, I can finally comment about my weekend.  You know, because everyone's been on pins and needles just suffocating in anticipation.  This past weekend Little Dude stayed with my mom.  All that potty-training progress we'd made, well, that whooshing noise was the sound of it flying out the ( Read more... )

sorry about seventh.

Unfortunately, due to your unending love of me, this may be something we do from time to time, but I promise we'll limit to one night in a given set from here on out.

That's so great to hear about Die Hard! I love that franchise. The last one was a hoot and I when I saw a new one coming out, I totally wanted to go check it out! Transformers looked interesting... but I don't know if I want to see it on the big screen...

I'm curious about your graphic novels list... not that I buy graphic novels. I tend to urr... find and download them. ^_^;; I haven't actually read Yotsuba yet, since it's an incomplete on my hard-drive. So far, best manga that sticks in my mind is anything long by Mitsuru Adachi, I don't think he's actually in translation over here and a lot of shoujo ^_^;; but I do read some shounen. Nartuo is the main one, Bleach, though my absolute favorite manga incomplete right now is One Piece! Freakin' awesome series!!! Though I haven't read a lot of the newer translations... sigh But hilarious wonderful humor with lots of cooky action and surprising character development. Very imaginative and fun ( ... )

The great thing about LFoDH was that Bruce Willis/John McClane figured out he was in an action movie (again!) early and just had fun with it. I think the funniest parts were when McClane is going "Whoa!" at his own badassery. ^_^

Lessee, I go through a number of graphic novel (complete stories > never-ending serialize fiction!). Empowered's by an American comicbook artist who tends to draw in a more 'manga-stylized' fashion. He's also very funny and tongue-in-cheek. Yotsuba&! is pure awesomeness and I'm super-psyched that even though the wait for v4 was agonizing, v5 is expected to come out in October. I can also highly recommend Scott Pilgrim, Rose & Isabel, Lost at Sea, and Mouse Guard on the American graphic novel front off the top of my head.

On the manga front, I read KareKano all the way up to v12 or so, just after the school play finished. Then I kinda stopped because it seemed like Arima's angst was about to take center stage and I'd rather leave on a high note. If the run's complete I might just "peruse" the ( ... )

You should totally check out One Piece. I think it's your type of manga. It has tons of humor, lots of action and very good character development. Bleach just doesn't measure up and if you think Naruto is dense... be glad he's not Luffy. I like Hot Gimmick, but same reason you stated on why I don't love it. It's like harmless shoujo thrill, but I'm not going to rec it to others just because the contents makes me squint at it sometimes in disbelief... though the main character's adopted older brother, Shinogu, is one HOT ass man. He's good looking and sigh the way he express his love is so unlike every other immature character in that manga. Of course, he's the angst and gets the short end of the stick... but that's why I love his character ( ... )

Well, I do like pirates. And ninja pirates doing street fighter combos does sound appealing. But I'm not sure I want to devote even more time to waiting for a manga chapter to come out.

same reason you stated on why I don't love it.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who got turned off by that. There's only so much "I have chosen to have no control of my life" that I can take from any given character.

How did you end up there? Happy hour or something?

Nah, my wife likes the occasional drink and we were meeting friends there.

"...and being the only sober person in the building gets old quick."

This brings back my childhood of sitting up evenings with my parents while they "partied" and wondering why I was the only one in the room that felt like she had a brain. XD

One day your son will come to accept the poreclain throne as his master. Hopefully. ;)

I gotta see Die Hard again. I keep meaning to... XD

LOL, on first reading, I thought you were implying that my son would eventually graduate to binge drinking and vomiting!

And yes, seeing Die Hard again is definitely a must!

Maybe... Nah, I'm kidding. I meant he'd eventually become potty trained. He'll look back and wonder why he ever wanted to keep wearing diapers.
