David's not been in the lab recently, she knows that he's working on some project with Rae. Several times she's wanted to search him out but was worried she wouldn't know what to say. If it had been Laura...nothing anyone would say would have made a difference. At least he still has Major Lorne. She doesn't want to use up any time they could be

RE: hi
Katie -
I just realized, I've been in Atlantis long enough to settle down, and people've told me you're here too, but I haven't seen you once. I've gotten rather caught up in catching up with David and running the Chem department - yes, I got promoted to lead chemist within a week of my arrival; blame my luck with dodging explosions for that.
Anyway, I was wondering if we could maybe do lunch sometime? Catch up a bit? I'm pretty busy, and I'm sure you are too, but the city's not that big a place, we've got to be able to run into each other some time...

RE: RE: Hi
No way! I heard some rumours of a new scientist that could practically be David's twin - it didn't occur to me that it actually might be! Wow, I have no idea what to say. I guess I have been pretty busy, since you're lead chemist you probably already know about Dr. Kavanagh. My girl (yes, just the one) was on that mission too so I guess I got a little caught up.
But absolutely we should meet. I can't wait to see you again. Let's just do it away from exploding chemistry labs ok?
Dinner ok? Come by my quarters, about 7ish. It's section D, corridor 13, room 8. Probably be good for you to learn the way so you can be prepared for ladies poker night ;)

"Wow, look at you hon. You haven't changed a dot." She said still looking at her appraisingly, whilst the door shut behind them. "Can't believe you're here! It really is a small world - well galaxy!" She babbles, directing them towards her comfortable purple couch. "Can I get you something to drink? I have some beer left over from the Daedalus run."

I'm ok, really--all things considered...taking care of Marc really takes up enough of my time that I don't think about it too much. I figure when things settle down again, I'll have time for a proper breakdown...wailing and rending of clothes and everything.
I always wanted you to love him like I did....do, Kate....but I understanded when you didn't. Marc hasn't been able to tell me the story yet, and I really want to hear it from him....but from what I can understand, Calvin was amazing. He always was.
Anyway! Better stop before I depress myself...maybe you, Saera, Marc and I can have dinner sometime....I haven't even had time to introduce him to my twin...I don't even know if I've told him she's here. Things have been...crazy.
Miss you, love you

I'm glad you're doing ok. And the offer stands for whenever. Any time of the day or night, ok?
I only just found out Saera was here myself! Things really have been crazy. But she's coming over for dinner at 7. If you're feeling up to it, maybe you and Marc can join us? If not, don't worry about it. We'll do something another time.
Love you

She glanced over and spoke to Laura. "Hey, you want me to start dragging out embarrassing college stories about Katie?"
Laura grinned glancing at Katie. "Sure." She replied with a laugh.
"Kissing?" Katie asked, her interest piqued, "so do we get a name...or are you gonna make me guess?"
Katie just glared at Saera whilst hitting Laura across the arm. "Careful, both of you." She stared at them both in turn. "Saera, I have just as many embarrasing stories about you...well maybe not as many, but a fair number. I could have lots of fun sharing them with random people around the city. And Laura honey, I can cut you off!"

She opened her mouth, then closed it again. "Fine. You win. I've only got funny-embarrassing stories about you, you've got blackmail-quality on me. No way I'm taking those odds."

She turned to Laura, giving her a quick kiss which became deeper than she'd intended as Laura's mouth opened under hers. "Maybe I would." She replied breezily.

Saera whapped Katie on the arm. "C'mon, you know kids aren't an option for any of us in the near future. Besides, can you just picture me as a mother? And with my luck, the kids'd have his tendency to shoot things and my habit of blowing things up. I don't think we're nearly that serious yet. I'm certainly not. It's just...he's nice, and he seems genuinely interested in me, and he's - well, he's different; as far as I can tell, he doesn't expect me to be a normal woman and have a nice safe job and cook dinner every day. He actually likes that I blow things up on a regular basis, which is quite refreshing after my last boyfriend."

She moved around between the dining table and the kitchen, setting three places and bringing in the food. "It's not much. As always, I got caught up in the lab, just I knew you wouldn't care." She said sitting down and waiting for the others to join her.

She smiled, moving towards the table. "Katie, you know if I can't eat it with my fingers I think it's fancy. I'm sure whatever you've made will be absolutely heavenly, you always were a wonderful cook. And it smells delicious."
