Evil, Evil Trees!

Two of the local towns here including the one i live in (maybe more, but at least the ones i drive through...) have had the brilliant idea to go along the roads and cut down all the trees that are within like ...about twenty feet or so of the power lines

Typical of people. If anything comes close to possibly threatening their comfortable lives, they'll cut it down without thinking. Not just trees, either.

Americans are pissing me off today. Just sat and had one spend an hour bitching because his worthless crap that he 'collected' for years turned out to be... WORTHLESS! And then another complain about having to throw stuff away because the nearest charity place wouldn;t come pick it up and why should HE have to drive and take a couple hours out of his day to find somewhere to give it to...

And now, this.

People are stupid, greedy, lazy and shortsighted, most of them seem to be American, and it's pissing me off.

EC, come to Scotland. I'm inviting all the cool Americans, and we can start a commune or something. Then all the morons left behind can moron themselves into extinction under a pile of garbage and dead trees.

That seems to vary from community to community. Down here they'll lop off any offending limbs but carving a path of destruction along wooded roadways isn't the norm, certainly not to the extent you're describing.

Yeah, it's never been the norm here either, the usually just trim off the limbs that are getting close to the lines.
They're going nuts because there was a storm over the winter where tons of people lost power for like a week.

Blows my mind. We got hit with a hurricane and people were without power for over a month in some instances but there weren't any murderous reprisals against the foliage.

Why not, yanno, query the local municipal authority and find out who's brilliant idea this was?

Here they just sort of trim all the branches so they're well clear of the lines. The trees look sort of like they have a bite taken out of them but they're fine XD
