Good domain name registrar?

Help me, lazyweb! If I want to register a vanity domain (because I'm using the name on a non-routed network, and don't want to DOS someone else if configured devices escape into the world), who is a good (as in, not horrifically expensive and not known to be problematic) registrar? Probably registering a .org or .net (though Network Solutions ( Read more... )

I may take you up on that. Still looking at my list o' names, and deciding which (available) one is best for my purposes.

I don't have an answer, but I'm also interested in the question.

My domain's currently at GoDaddy. I haven't had any problems with them -- the worst about them, in my opinion, is the aggressive way they try to sell you additional services you don't need -- but I understand they've riled a bunch of folks recently with sexist ads. So if there's a better registrar out there, I'm all ears.

I've heard a few folks who have tried to transfer their domains away from GoDaddy and had "technical issues" with the transfer. (On the other hand, not like I'm setting up a storefront...)

I use Dreamhost for my registration and hosting. Free registration if you have a hosting account!
