"You just need to accept that there was a reason that you are never going to know about because there is stuff we don't tell." Like we hadn't already figured that out... After 7 months she's decided not to lie about it anymore. Guess too many conflicting answers to that question have been given and she had to come clean about it. I find her answer very arrogant though, don't know why, but the way she says it, it's like we don't deserve a straight answer...

The problem with this quote is that I can see it as an attempt to lay the blame on Brooke and pretend to be all mighty about it, like she's protecting her from something. Maybe I'm too cynical. I'm relieved it was the truth for a change though, whatever the real reasons are.
I can't believe this all still winds me up so much.
See, I think it's unfair to blame Shonda, because if she didn't want to do the storyline, she would never have written it. I think it clearly came from ABC, especially when you look at what happened around the same time on Ugly Betty & Dirty Sexy Money, so it's fair enough that she's distancing herself. It's just the way it's phrased. God, I don't know.
I've read the "contractual reasons" one, yes, and I've asked a producer friend of mine to see if he can find out what the standard Grey's contract includes. I just want to know what she could possibly have violated. I don't think Brooke did anything wrong, of course, but I'd like to be able to be more sure about it, you know? I do think it's a ridiculous statement. I don't know if he'll be able to find out or not, but I have to try. Even if I don't know exactly *why* I'm trying.

Well, at least this is the truth and not ANOTHER lame excuse, coming from Shondaco's selective memory, and chemistry-no chemistry game *rolls eyes*

And it was quite stressful for her at the time, writing the season finale, being sleep-deprived and all...
But yes, it does come across a bit cold, doesn't it?

It sure sounds like she is distancing herself from taking the blame.
Have you read the links above? One states "contractual reasons". LOL?

ITA. :-)
That doesn't justify the way the media was handled, though, feeding them lame excuses etc.
> I have to try.
Well, let me know what you've found out, ok?
