Break The Tension - Roadblock Sanctuary

Jun 18, 2005 10:29

I wrote a song. You could ask why, but I don't really feel like typing it up. Pester me and I may reveal my secrets through the power of LJ comments.

I'm told it's somewhere around Elliot Smith, Damien Rice, My Chemical Romance, Brand New and Snow Patrol. Apparently it is the chicken of lyrics.

The calloused hands of fate
twist and turn their levers well.
Because when coming to terms
with losing your grip,
it's good to know who holds the stones,
and who holds the sticks.
And diatribes against better times
are caught up in a sea of why.

Breaking down is good if it
breaks the tension,
takes with it the pain and
bids for attention.

A few scribbled witticisms
on some crumpled paper
never seem to beg the right questions
A cut so deep it's almost self-aware
in a heart of gold that's never quite there
an absentee ballot wins against
a voice that cracks and falters

Breaking down is good if it
breaks the tension,
takes with it the pain and
bids for attention.

And if it hurts to be this good,
I should have trauma.
Life's a never-ending sentence
sans a breath or a comma

but I was never good with conclusions
never good with endings
never good with them
never good

And you can see from the title of this entry that this lyric is from the imaginary band Roadblock Sanctuary. You wish you thought of it first.
