My post was not so much a criticism of diversity rather a criticism of how identity is defined. My issue is with identification, the act of it, not identity. There is little to no mention of utility and equality in identity. Yet, it is a politic due to the presumed inherit act of identification and employment of race, sex, etc..barriers. The problem is that is so many times taken out of the hands of the self-identifying and forced into the "change-agent"'s hands. For the sake of language, we define identity but that does not mean the definition is the be all end all. Maybe, just maybe, we can learn something new.
