I was just discussing this exact conversation with someone else.
When people were dealing with the Tsunami, we were donating money, time, food, and even troops to help people out.
With the hurricane in Miami, so far all I've heard about is U.S. citizens helping U.S. citizens. It makes me wonder why we have allies to begin with.

I think you guys are there doing the best job you can. It takes a pretty strong work ethic to be doing what you do. As for the allies, screw'em. Most of Europe does not really appreciate the sacrifices America has done in history. Gerhart Schroeder, the former chancelor of Germany, commented that Europe needs to 'counterbalance' America. Maybe the US should pull our troops out of the big base in Brandenburg, and move to a place that more accepts us. I can imagine the economic impact that would have on a country with 10% unemployment as it is. Maybe the US should just withdraw from the UN and start a new pact with only our closest friends. When you have countries like Syria in charge of human rights for the UN...and the whole French-Iraq cheap oil on the side oil for food scandal. Corruption is abound.
Sorry for the rant. I completely agree with you.
