An essay in this month's Health Affairs is compelling reading, at least for folks like me. In brief, the author describes the reasons why she, despite a positive family history, does not get an annual mammogram.

Yeah, I read her essay & thought it was interesting. I know my mom has had several negative breast biopsies, and I've not had a mammogram (and am unsure if I'm going to).

Wex -- take at look at the Nordic Cochrane Center link in Tom's original post. There's a nice meta-analysis for dust mites right there.

As expected, my OB/GYN asked during my recent appointment if I'd ever had a mammogram. I am 40 years old, which I expected the question. I told her no and I discussed with her our family cancer history (there is none that I know of). She decided that it wasn't worth it right now, and we'd discuss it at a later date, if necessary.
