Synopsis: Jun is not the happiest ever after the disaster of a FNS performance, and Ohno does his best to cheer Jun up, and calm him down.
Authors note: Inspired by the FNS debacle, the rest I just made up. Since that’s how it works
Authors note the second: The is what I consider a drabble one shot. Its short, for me. But it is done. So yet. Enjoy. This is also what I consider fluff. Perhaps I need to work on these definitions.
Jun was certain by the end of the performance that those who knew him well could see the irritation on his face. It had not been a bad performance, once one took into account the lack of microphones, and headsets, and anything else that they would need to be able to hear each other. Perhaps they had not been totally on pitch, singing louder and with enthusiasm to make up for this fact, but they did it dammit, and they did the best that they could, and he was proud of them for that.
However, it was unacceptable that something like this had happened. Their collaboration performance had gone flawlessly, so what had happened between those points? He was certain that his band members were aware of his irritation, and frustration, for they stuck close to him, a brief hand on his back that he was sure was Ohno, a hand on the elbow that was Nino, a brief body against his back, gravely laugh in his ear that could only be Aiba, Sho hovered close, sending Jun looks that Jun was sure were meant to placate him. But he was fine. Really. Why would he not be fine?
Backstage was a frenzy of activity. As soon as they were off the stage there were apologies, and more apologies, and profuse apologies. They were not sure what had happened, and they were very sorry, complete with more apologies.
“It is fine, technical difficulties happen.” Jun knew that his voice was polite, though the tone and his posture belied the words. As the staff continued to apologize, and bow, and apologize, Jun assured them that no really, it was just fine, it did not effect their performance, and that always it was a pleasure to be on the show.
He could feel more than see Sho hovering nearby, waiting to diffuse the situation, but that would not be happening. There was no need. Jun was a professional, dammit, and even if the show had come across as less that professional, Arashi had done its best, and he was not going to belittle that by exploding in anger at the FNS staff. (Though once he would have exploded. Heads would have rolled, and others would have cowered in fear. But he would not, could not, let his perfectionism and anger at the fact that someone else had fucked up and it effected Arashi get to him, and demean or belittle their performance in any way). But perhaps he packed his bag up with unnecessarily harsh movement. And perhaps he brushed off his band mates as they called out to him, stalking out of the room and to the waiting company car for his next meeting about his upcoming drama. And perhaps he ignored his phone as it vibrated in his pocket, since he knew it was his band mates, and he smiled all the while, politely assuring all who stopped him on the way out of the building that no really, it was fine, really.
When Jun was in the car, and away from prying eyes, and on his way away from that disaster (and certain that he could not snap and go back and yell at people) was the first time that he pulled out his phone and looked at the messages.
Sho was inquiring as to if he was alright.
Nino commented that the old man appeared worried, for some reason, and that Jun better be making sure that he took care of his knee, since his slides across the floor seemed off (and Jun replied of course I am you moron to that one) and when Nino replied with a smiling laughing emoji, Jun could hear Nino’s cackling in his head.
Aiba’s message was that he loved Arashi, and on days like this he was glad that it was there five, as he would have wanted to be onstage with no one else that night.
And Ohno just asked if Jun would be home that night.
Which in and of itself was an odd question. Jun was pretty much always home at night, unless he was doing filming that ran until 3 or 4 AM and he needed to be at work by 7 AM or so, but this was not one of those nights.
“Of course, Satoshi-kun, why would I not be?” Was Jun’s reply, and he could not help but smile and shake his head at his lovers answer.
“You were upset, and I thought maybe you would end up out drinking with Oguri-kun or something like that.”
“I will be home when this is over.” Jun could not help but smile, even without trying too, Ohno had a way of making Jun smile.
Except the smile was not long lived, since everyone at the meeting he was going to had seen, or heard about, the issues with that nights performance, and was asking Jun about it, but he put on his best idol smile, shoved down the urge to kill people, and went on with his day. Professionalism, thy name is Matsumoto Jun. That was his motto for the day, though often times it was said through through gritted teeth and mental death glares, he was a professional.
Which is why, when he dragged himself into the house at the end of the day, he took in a deep breath, prepared to bitch to Ohno about how frustrated he was with the entire day, and the performance, and how dare they. But, as he tossed his bag on the bench beside the door, lining his shoes up, he could hear Ohno in the kitchen, which was odd. Jun did most of the cooking.
“Ah, Jun. Welcome home.” Ohno called, shuffling towards Jun with a smile, and Jun found that he could not help but smile in return.
“We can talk about the performance later if you want, but later. I have something for you.” Ohno commented, instantly noticing the tension in Jun’s frame, the way that his eyebrows were furrowed together, Though knowing Jun as long as he did, and being with him for as long as he had, he would have to be a complete idiot to not know that Jun would be upset with today. They had all been frustrated, but Ohno had been very proud of Jun for not exploding at the staff for the issues that day.
“For me?” Jun asked and Ohno nodded, grabbing Jun by the hand and leading him though the apartment, and into the bedroom, but he did not stop there, leading Jun to the bathroom.
Jun blinked in surprise as he saw that there were candles scattered through the room, the nice aromatic ones that he found so relaxing, as well as some nice soothing jazz playing. A bottle of red wine had been opened and re-corked, and was sitting beside the bath, which was steaming with hot water, which was scented with Jun’s favorite bath salts, a scent that mingled nicely with the candles.
“Relax. Jun did well today. And if you still want to talk about the performance when you are done, then we can. I am cooking dinner as well, so take as long as you want.” Ohno motioned to the stool by the shower, which had Jun’s shampoo and conditioner and body wash waiting and ready for the younger man. "What is done is done, and we cant change it, so I want to make sure that Jun lets go of it as well."
Jun did not answer for a moment, contemplating the Ohno logic, since it was very much Ohno logic. Similar to the one that he had used years ago, to convince Jun that he should let go and let Ohno in.
“Love you.” Jun whispered after a moment, against Ohno’s lips, pulling him close for a kiss. He was so lucky, so very lucky that Ohno put up with him, and it was very sweet of the older man to do this for him, and, Jun knew, a much better way to end the day than bitching about the day.
“Jun had a rough day, and I wanted to do something for him. He does things for me all the time.” Ohno smiled sheepishly up as Jun, and Jun could not help the overwhelming rush of fondness that he felt for his Riida. There was a lot of give and take with their relationship, and Jun did a lot of caretaking for all of Arashi (not as much as Sho, but enough) but Ohno was special, since Ohno was his.
“You didn’t have to, Riida.” Jun spoke against Ohno’s temple, holding the ther close, just breathing in the scent of his shampoo, different from Jun’s, but very much Ohno, and he could feel his tension and frustration at the day melting away. It was nice, to come home after a rough day, and feel this loved.
“I didn’t, but I wanted to, for Jun.” Ohno shifted, placing a kiss against Jun’s lips before shuffling out of the bathroom, and back to the kitchen. Ohno Satoshi was a good man, and a great leader, and all that Jun could want. And he would make certain that he told his lover that tonight. Jun did not often tell Ohno aloud how much he meant to him, but he tired to show it, in as many ways as he could. But tonight, when Ohno had gone through such lengths for Jun, knowing just how to get Jun to let go, and relax, it was the very least that Jun could do for Ohno. He was glad, all those years ago, that he had made the decision to let Ohno in, and see if he could indeed love him.
With a fond smile, Jun pulled the door to the bathroom closed. He should not let his lovers efforts go to waste, or the water cool too much, and the bottle of wine was appealing as well. It was a nice end to a less than nice day.
